I’m like the blue ridge mountains
lots of people surroundin’
but barely even a sound on those blue ridge mountains

Oh and I’m like a fountain
that flows free
Lots of people drop change in
but that’s the only change that I ever see

I’m like an old boat
stuck on land instead of the sea
And I’ve got an old hope
that some day someone will pilot me

Sometimes I feel like a river
that’s trying to reach the sea
but frozen by the cold winds
that keep on blowin, blowin on me

but even some birds
are stuck on the ground, unable to fly
but the mountains,
they reach up, they reach up and touch the sky
so maybe those mountains, ain’t so bad after all
stuck to the ground, but at least they stand,
